• REACH - Update SVHC Candidate List of Substances

    The European Agency for Chemicals ECHA updated the day 15 January, the candidate list, candidate list for inclusion in Annex XIV (Authorisation) of the REACH Regulation.
    Currently the Candidate List contains substances 197.

    The updated list of SVHC substances is available at the following link.

    Compared to the previous edition of the list, the following six substances have been added:
    • 2,2-bis (4'-hydroxyphenyl) -4-methylpentane
    • Benzo [k] fluoranthene
    • Fluoranthene

  • Machinery Directive - Public Consultation of the European Commission - 11.02.2019 Expiry

    The European Commission has published the document of Inception Impact Assessment on the revision of the Machinery Directive. The document can be found at this link https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/better-regulation/initiatives/ares-2018-6426989_it and you can also provide comments up to the 11 February.

  • REACH - Published new Regulation (EU) 2018 / 2005 on phthalates

    17 December was published in the Official Journal (L series 322 / 14) the Commission Regulation (EU) 2018 / 2005 amending Annex XVII of the REACH Regulation, limiting the use of four phthalates: bis (2-ethylhexyl) ) phthalate (DEHP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), benzylbutyl phthalate (BBP) and diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP).
    Such phthalates will be subject to market restrictions in concentrations equal to or greater than 0,1% by weight, individually or in any combination in any plastified material from 7 July 2020.

  • Dual Use - Update list of dual-use items

    On December 14, the European Commission published the 2018 update of the EU Dual-Use Checklist. The Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2018 / 1922 updates the list of dual use products introduced by Annex I of Regulation (EC) no. 428 / 2009, in order to make it consistent with the decisions taken under the international non-proliferation and export control regimes in the 2017.

  • REACH - Published new Regulation (EU) 2018 / 1881 on nanomaterials

    4 December was published in the Official Gazette (L series 208 / 1) the Regulation (EU) 2018 / 1881 of the European Commission which provides for the revision of several annexes of the REACH Regulation regarding registration requirements for so-called nanomaterials.

  • LVD Directive - Public Consultation of the European Commission - 11.01.2019 Expiry

    The European Commission has initiated a Public Consultation of stakeholders to evaluate the 2014 / 35 / EU LVD Low Voltage Directive. It will be possible to participate in the consultation until 11 January 2019; the results will be taken into consideration by the consultants appointed by the Commission for the preparation of the impact assessment of the Directive, entrusted to Ecorys, VVA and Deloitte.

  • CPR Regulation - Support Study on Evaluation and Impact Assessment

    The European Commission has published the final reports related to the support study on the evaluation and evaluation of the impact of the Regulation (EU) n. 305 / 2011 'CPR'.
    The final report presented shows that a radical change in the legislative framework should not be initiated or, more importantly, the repeal of the CPR Regulation. The report recommends that the CPR Regulation can be improved "through a non-binding law, supplemented by a limited legislative review to address very specific issues".

  • Plenary vote of the European Parliament on the Water Drinking Directive revision dossier

    The European Parliament in plenary recently approved its report on the revision of the drinking water directive, thus defining the official position of the European Parliament in view of the negotiations with the Member States (European Council).

    The report is very positive for industry as it proposes amendments that go in the direction of a request for harmonization of the hygiene requirements of materials and products in contact with drinking water, subject matter regulated today at the level of individual Member States (see attached document ).
