Aligning Directive 97 / 23 / EC PED to New LegislativeFramework - NLF - comments on the proposal
This revision is intended to align the Directive 97 / 23 / EC PED content of horizontal measures introduced by the New Legislative Framework, with particular reference to Decision 768 / 2008 / EC establishing the new common framework for the marketing of products . In the European Commission's intentions, this alignment process will be a review of a formal nature (should not involve technical, design or procedures for placing on the market).
While not involving technical aspects, design and procedures for the placing on the market, the alignment of the Directive 97 / 23 / EC PED will have some effect on the manufacturers: they must, for example, change the name of the Directive within the declaration of conformity of the product.
An analysis of the official text of the proposed Directive Alignment 97 / 23 / EC (PED) to the New Legislative Framework (New LegislativeFramework - NLF), highlights some of the specific character comments that are available to members in the confidential section Circular Area.
As for the future procedures, the text as proposed, is being considered by the Council and the European Parliament. As a review of "light" and of a formal nature, timing to formalize the new text of the Directive will be relatively short. Although not possible to state with certainty the date of formalization, it is expected to say that will be approved in early 2014.
