ICE - Agency for the promotion abroad and internationalization of Italian companies, as part of the promotional activities planned for the 2019 in favor of the food machinery sector, organizes the Italian Technology Week in Colombia and Ecuador.
The initiative takes the form of two phases:
1. action of partner search targeted, to be held in the months of April / May
2. a mission in the countries in question, which will take place from 1 to 5 in July 2019. During the mission B2B and B2G meetings will be organized as well as site visits to industries and other local food processing companies.
Companies can decide whether to join one or both phases of the promotional action.
Colombia expresses the need to modernize the food production chain, in order to make agricultural production more competitive on the international market. Not surprisingly, there is a strong increase in imports of machinery for food processing, + 24.23% between the first nine months of 2017 (39,28 € mln) and the same period of 2018 (48.8 € mln). In this context, Italy, with a market share of 18,7%, ranks as 2 ° supplier of Colombia, after Germany and largely ahead of the USA. Almost 75% of our sales in Colombia are of bakery, confectionery and pasta machinery (+ 169% between 2017 and 2018). By contrast, Italy's share of fruit and vegetable processing machinery is only 0,2%. It is therefore a front in which to expand its presence and promotional activity. Ecuador is also betting on the agro-industrial sector, in support of which various government policies have been implemented. However, imports of food processing machinery are equivalent to US $ 33.24 mln in the 2018, down sharply compared to the 2017, a decrease also recorded by the share of Italy passed from 20.6% in 2016 to 12.6% in 2018.
Therefore, the need to initiate actions to penetrate a promising market, but still not very stable for Italian industry, is revealed.
