Change, since January this year 1 the rules underlying the weighted voting system within CEN and CENELEC, in order to reflect the provisions of the Lisbon Treaty.
Counted the votes of all member countries of CEN, the documents in the voting (Standard, Technical Specification, new WorkItem, Standardization Request made by the European Commission, changes justified Approved Standards) shall be adopted:
if the 55% of the votes submitted (abstentions are not counted) are in favor
and the population of the CEN member countries that voted positively achieve a minimum of 65% of the population of all countries of the CEN members who voted (abstentions are not counted)
First of all, the votes of all the CENELEC member countries are counted; the voting documents (Standard, Technical Specification, new WorkItems, Standardization Request made by the European Commission, amendments justified to approved Standards) are adopted:
if a simple majority of the votes submitted (abstentions are not counted) are in favor
and if at least 71% of the votes weighted subjected (calculated according to what is stated in the CEN-CENELEC Internal Regulation - Part2) are in favor (abstentions are not counted).
In both cases, if the documents are not approved in the vote, the votes cast by the EEA countries will be counted separately, then applying the above criteria.
