Within the framework of the restrictions on the use of hazardous substances defined by the RoHS Directive 2011 / 65 / CE (RoHS 2), a series of exemptions are provided for the authorization of the placing on the market of EEE containing the banned substances (the exemptions are listed in Annexes III and IV of the Directive).
The exemptions must be formalized (or extended if already existing) by specific delegated acts of the European Commission. It should be noted that from the first of March official drafts of the Commission's deeds are available for the extension of the validity of a series of exemptions already foreseen, for ex. the 6 exemption c) (use of copper alloys containing up to 4% lead by weight).
The European Commission has prepared a document summarizing the status, to date, of the exemptions provided by the Directive.
