The European Parliament in plenary recently approved its report on the revision of the drinking water directive, thus defining the official position of the European Parliament in view of the negotiations with the Member States (European Council).
The report is very positive for industry as it proposes amendments that go in the direction of a request for harmonization of the hygiene requirements of materials and products in contact with drinking water, subject matter regulated today at the level of individual Member States (see attached document ).
The European Drinking Water Industrial Alliance (EDW), of which ANIMA is a member, therefore welcomes the position expressed by the European Parliament, in the hope that this represents a decisive step in the direction of full harmonization at Community level of hygiene standards for materials and products in contact with drinking water.
A press release published by EDW is also attached.
