AVR and UNHCR join forces to create new opportunities: training and job placement for refugees through the "Welcome - Working for Refugee Integration" program

On November 18, 2025 in Brescia UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and AVR, signed a new agreement aimed to strengthen their collaboration under the "Welcome - Working for Refugee Integration" program, an initiative that promotes the role of businesses in creating career paths for refugees seeking a new life opportunity.

The agreement stems from the increasingly evident need to reconcile two needs: on the one hand, the growing demand for qualified personnel in the industrial sector, on the other, the urgent need to offer dignified and stable prospects to those forced to flee persecution and armed conflict.

As part of their respective institutional missions, UNHCR and AVR are committed to developing shared initiatives aimed at member companies to strengthen the culture of inclusion, promote accurate information on available tools, and support recruitment processes. The collaboration includes the promotion of the "Welcome" program and the activities that UNHCR has been carrying out for years in Italy, with the aim of facilitating refugees' entry into the workforce through targeted training programs designed to meet the real needs of the industry.

A key role will also be played by raising awareness among businesses of the regulatory opportunities introduced by Law 50/2023. This new legislative framework creates significant scope for structurally addressing the shortage of skilled labor and, at the same time, for initiating integration processes that offer refugees a stable future as skilled workers and technicians.

The agreement also provides for joint corporate social responsibility initiatives, the possibility of launching corporate partnerships, and the direct involvement of employees through activities such as volunteering or donation campaigns.
