Photo Contest #ScattailSegnale

The photo contest, promoted by Assosegnaletica in cooperation with Konsumer Italia, focuses on unsuitable and incorrect road signs.

More than 60% of road signs in Italy are not up to standard (due to vandalism, age, loss of minimum reflectivity, wrong layout - graphics, improper positioning). In these cases, rather than conveying a message to the road user, the sign becomes a danger and/or source of distraction.

The competition promoted by Assosegnaletica and Konsumer Italia aims to be a tool for citizens' active defence against road insecurity. The photos collected will be used to call on the road owner to intervene to restore safety conditions with appropriate signage.

The protagonist of the initiative is road signs, both vertical and horizontal, in their context. It is up to the authors to find the most striking cases capable of impressing the jury chaired by a photojournalist who will choose three images.

Rules

Participation is free of charge, no registration of any kind is required. The competitor must not alter the state of the places where the sign is placed or retouch the subject in order to improve the aesthetic result of the image, but must shoot the actual state of affairs.

To participate

Photos can be submitted until 1 December 2019:

  • to scattailsegnale@konsumer.it
  • on the Facebook page ScattailSegnale with the addition of the #ScattailSegnale
  • via WhatsApp at 320 8915791.

Required information

  • Date of shot
  • Exact indication of the position of the signal (e.g. at Km 13,700 on the right-hand side of Via Frascati in the direction of Frascati)
  • author's name, surname and telephone number

Awards

Each participant will receive a digital certificate of participation as a road safety practitioner. The authors of the three winning pictures will be awarded in the context of a conference on road safety to be held in Rome. The first classified image will be rewarded with a digital reflex camera (Canon, Nikon or Pentax); the second and third classified will receive a trophy. The three authors will be invited to participate in a live web TV broadcast and interviewed. All videos will be made available on the Konsumer Italia YouTube channel for free viewing.
